SOUTH FERRY

by Laszlo Tar

Watercolor - 1965
Cat# 2534065/1965

Description

A signed limited print may be available of this piece! (click here)

In this piece, the wonderful dynamics of downtown New York City come alive!

A unique and nostalgic lower Manhattan view, from the South Ferry terminal (where the Staten Island Ferry departs) - looking back toward the city - with colorful brownstones, skyscrapers and hustle of people and cars during a busy weekday.

Dad would travel throughout New York City to paint and draw the many wonderful and contrasting metropolitan scenes, and on this day, he found this perfect spot.

On this day in 1965, Dad wasn't afraid to be out there in the middle of it all. He setup his easle amid the crowd at South Ferry - and he might just have also taken a ferry ride to Staten Island, to set up his next day's painting! 💖
