Frank Sinatra was born in Hoboken, New Jersey, and this park sits in Hoboken along the Hudson River, with a perfect view of the New York City skyline.

Dad painted from Hoboken several times throughout his life, dating to around 1961.

When Mom passed away in 2007, Dad was 85 years old. He came to live with us on Long Island. I was determined to help him continue his art any way I could. Together, we ventured out in search of places to paint or draw, and the moments we spent together were priceless.

On this warmer December day, we knew where we were going because it was a place Dad had painted many times, so many years ago.

We climbed into my car early and ended up in this spot. It is around where the old Maxwell House Coffee plant once stood, and the Todd Shipyard - an old industrial area, now converted to residential buildings and beautiful parks.

Dad set up his easel, sat on a bench, and painted. I stood there, capturing the moment, absorbing it all - the grand Hudson River; the majestic distant New York City skyline; a passing ferry, and my Dad doing his thing.

I was there with him that day, at Frank Sinatra Park. ❤️
