This is one of my favorite paintings from my dad's "Flowers" collection. It shows some irises and baby's breath flowers arranged simply in an Italian vase. The background is a pale green pastel color and there's a light gray base.

What I love about this piece is how simple and elegant it is. It's just a bunch of small iris flowers and a few branches with fern leaves and baby's breath blooms. But look at how they reach out, like they're saying "Look at us!"

My mom had the most amazing English garden back then, filled with all kinds of flowers that my dad would use as models for his paintings.

In the 1990s, I was hard at work in an office job and traveled a lot. But every weekend I would visit my parents, especially on Sundays when Mom would make one of her delicious European-style meals. And she often baked amazing pastries as well. She was such a great cook.

The three of us would sit together in the living room and look at my Dad's newest creations. We'd chat for hours about his paintings and other things. Those were really special times that I'll always treasure.

On this summer day in 1996, Dad created Irises. ❤️
