Ah, the magic of Central Park on a snowy day!

My Dad, was a master of capturing life's simple joys, and he found inspiration in the heart of New York City.

This iconic spot, nestled near the Metropolitan Museum, was our family's go-to destination whenever the snowflakes fell. I have vivid memories of bundling up with my brother, sister, Mom, and Dad, and racing down the hills on our sleds, laughing and screaming with pure joy.

One day, years later, when I was in my 40s and Dad was nearing 80, we visited the Met together - we did that often. Afterward, we took a leisurely stroll through the park, and incidentally found the exact spot where this painting was born. It was like magic! As we walked by; I felt I knew this place (and I did). I pulled out my phone and gazed at this very work of art. I was overcome with emotion. It was like finding a bit of buried treasure. I pointed it out to my Dad and he agreed - this was the spot. He proceeded to find and stand at the very location that was the viewpoint for this work. In a moment, we were reliving that winter wonderland from so long ago, all over again.

I like to think that my brother, sister and I were among the carefree kids zooming down the hill that day, with Mom watching over us and Dad, then just 43, standing in the snow, brush in hand, capturing the beauty of it all. It was a poignant moment, one that I'll always treasure.

On this day in 1965, Dad brings this perfect New York moment to life, with simple strokes, and love, and The Sleigh. ❤️
