As I stand before my father's watercolor paintings of Venice Itally, I fall back to the vibrant and enchanting city he so dearly loved, and which I learned to love with him.

The way he has masterfully captured the scene, from the graceful gondolas and water taxis gliding along the waterway to the stunning pastel-hued buildings lining the shores, is a true testament to his artistic passion.

I can almost feel the pulse of the city pumping through this work, with the striped poles protruding from the water, awaiting the arrival of the next vessel. And there, in the distance, stands the magnificent Santa Maria della Salute, a symbol of the resilience and faith of the Venetian people.

As I learned more about the story behind the construction of the Santa Maria della Salute, the parallels between the Venetian people's promise to God and my father's own unwavering dedication to his craft struck me. Just as the Venetians honored their pledge by building this magnificent church, my father has honored his love for Venice by capturing its essence in his numerous stunning watercolor paintings of this wondrous place.

This work is not merely a beautiful depiction of a city; it is a testament to my father's passion, and deep connection to the world around him.

It is a piece that I cherish, a window into the mind and heart of the man who so lovingly brought this scene to life, allowing me to relive the magic of Venice through his eyes.

Dad visited Venice twice, once alone in 1977 and again with me in 1995, and his love for the vibrant colors, the winding canals, and the rich history of the place is palpable in this work.

In 1977, Dad stood on a bridge in Venice, Italy, looked up the canal and delivered on his promise to God, with Santa Maria della Salute!
