With his expressive brushstrokes, on a vibrant fall day in historic Central Park, Dad captured this scene near 59th Street.
The trees are ablaze with golden hues, creating a warm and inviting landscape. In the distance, the distinctive skyline of Central Park South rises, including the iconic Pierre Hotel with its green patina roof, standing tall and elegant against the backdrop of the city and a wonderful hazy pink sky.
This piece holds a special charm with its romantic and loving ambiance.
At the forefront, a man stands with a small boy and their faithful dog, a frequent and beloved character in my father's artwork, reflecting his deep affection for these loyal companions. The figures are positioned among the rocks, suggesting a moment of shared joy and exploration.
Central Park was a sanctuary for my father, a place where he often went to find inspiration and artistic reflection. He cherished the park's beauty and tranquility, and this artwork vividly encapsulates his love for both the location and the simple, heartfelt moments of life he observed and treasured.
On this day, in 1972, Dad found this beautiful view, and A View From The Hill. ❤️
