CITY BLOSSOMS

by Laszlo Tar

Watercolor - 1964
Cat# 3016085/1964

Description

In this work, a vibrant spring day comes to life in Central Park, New York City. Cherry blossoms are in full bloom, their pink and white petals creating a breathtaking contrast against the still-bare trees that are just beginning to show signs of new life.

The lush green grass is dotted with figures lounging and strolling, enjoying the park's serene beauty. In the distance, a couple of mounted police officers add a touch of pastoral charm. Beyond them, the gray silhouette of the city skyline rises, blending the natural and urban elements seamlessly.

This piece was a cherished gift from Dad, gracing the walls of my first apartment for many years.

We lived in New York City starting in 1961, in an area known as Spanish Harlem. Dad often traveled to Central Park to paint and draw, capturing its ever-changing beauty through the seasons.

On this day in 1964, he found this beautiful view of City Blossoms. ❤️
