Two musicians at their most expressive moment.
Dad loved to paint and draw people in every possible situation, but never more than when they were in their deepest, most personal expressive state. He often found that with musicians, and these musicians found their way into Dad's heart as they played their songs in Central Park, New York.
Dad would often spend whole days in the parks and streets of New York City, drawing and painting the various diverse human activities and contrasting settings of metropolitan life.
After arriving in America in 1956, Dad painted very few works in oil, so this one is rare in that it was created in 1970.
A Hidden Treasure
For many years this painting sat in storage, unsigned and seemingly unfinished. I recall pulling it out one day and sensing Dad's indifference to it, with him saying that it was unfinished and nothing special, but I loved it. In fact, I loved it maybe because it was, as he said, "unfinished". In my eye, it is totally finished. It has a complete message. So I asked him to sign it, and here it is.
Dad says all there needs to be said about that moment and The Players. ❤️
