Description
Located downtown, Gold Street is on the east side, near the Brooklyn Bridge. The pointed building is not the Empire State Building but the Woolworth Building.

Before the World Trade Center or the Empire State Building, there was the Cathedral of Commerce. This was the Woolworth Building – the world’s tallest, when built and for 16 years after. It is said that Reverend S. Parkes Cadman dedicated the Woolworth Building as a “Cathedral of Commerce” at its official opening on April 23, 1913.
Dad would travel (by foot and subway) throughout Manhattan to paint and draw.
On this day in 1964, Dad embarked on a new chapter, arriving in America just 8 years prior. Like so many immigrants of the time, he was filled with hope and optimism, believing that "the streets of America are paved with gold." With determination and a dream, he found the perfect spot to pursue his passion - on Gold Street. 💖
