Description

It is a late Spring day, with the lime-green grass and trees set against the crisp blue waters of Long Island Sound. Sailboats, almost motionless, creep by on the distant water surface, as people, a few on horses, play in the fore along the steep incline that leads down to the beach frontage.

This place and this view exist as perfectly and painterly expressed in this beautiful watercolor painting.

The setting is Caumsett State Historic Park, located in Lloyd Harbor New York, and the exact spot is at the rear of the main mansion.

Dad and I would spend countless days exploring the many parts of Caumsett. Still, as he grew older, our visits became simpler and shorter, but nonetheless wonderful - So many moments just sitting on a bench together, chatting and being there.

Today, as I visit the park alone, but never lonely on my daily walks, I pass the many spots and familiar trees that we together touched, loved, and became a part of, and especially this beautiful location with the forever memories of Dad painting at Caumsett Park.
