The village of Bayville is located in the Town of Oyster Bay, on the north shore of Long Island. It faces the Long Island Sound and Connecticut.

The view of this work is of the sheltered inlet. (the triangle blue area below the "Bayville" label on the map) The inlet has a small beach and a place where small boats are docked, stored, and launched. It is a picturesque place, difficult to describe with words alone. This painting, and Dad's masterful watercolor strokes, does a far better job of describing the beauty that is all Bayville.

When I started driving, around 1980, I began taking Dad on day-long painting trips out east, exploring the unique beauty of Long Island, New York. We left very early in the morning, with easel and paints, our destination unknown. I loved to drive, and Dad was the perfect passenger, with his special wandering eye and wonderful wisdom for all things beautiful. In a sense, I was really the passenger, as he carried me away on an endless artistic voyage.

On those memorable journeys, locked in my car with his vision, I learned about aesthetics and expressive composition from an artist's perspective. I learned to see as he saw, to feel as he felt, and after some time, I could find special painting spots for him and with him, reflected forever in his many works of Long Island, New York City, Venice, and even in his Flower works.

We became a team of ONE, on a creative mission that continued for many years and carries on for me to this day, in my endless bundle of memories.

Today, when I see something of beauty, I see it as my father saw it, his focused mind, flowing optimistic brush strokes—no hesitation—pure creation, pure magic. And for a moment, I imagine going to pick him up, to bring him out to paint, because he so very much still lives in my heart. ❤️

On this eternal summer day in 1986, we found this very Long Island moment, painted, From Bayville Bridge. ❤️
