MOTHERHOOD

by Laszlo Tar

Oil Painting - 1959
Cat# 0525046/1959

Description

This work holds a special place in my heart, blending dreams and memories into a single, timeless image.

For years, it hung above my mother's old sewing machine in our dining room, proof of the tender moments of my early childhood.

The painting captures my mother in an intimate act of love, breastfeeding me with a serene expression on her face. Her gentle embrace is a symbol of the nurturing kindness that defined her.

And I can imagine my father standing before us, his eyes reflecting the same warmth and love that filled the room. With every stroke of his paint-filled brush, he captured not just an image, but the very essence of our bond. The deep blues and earthy tones he chose convey a sense of calm and timelessness, reminiscent of the styles of Matisse and Cezanne, whom he greatly admired. The texture and depth in the painting evoke the impressionistic influences of his training at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest.

In this piece, my father immortalized a moment of pure, unfiltered love. The three of us are forever united in this canvas – my mother's nurturing care, my father's artistic devotion, and my own innocent reliance. This painting is more than just art; it is a cherished memory, a piece of our family's soul, and a beautiful representation of the love that binds us. ❤️

Today, these thoughts touch my inner soul, as did my mother's nurturing milk on that day, in that moment of Motherhood. ❤️

Through My Father's Eyes

And here is a beautiful song by David Wahler that I feel fits the painting perfectly, especially as I was born on a Sunday.

Song: "SIGH AWAY SUNDAY"

Album: "A Star Danced"
